When the boss drives you crazy at work or when any other key person in your working environment begins to become a major source of stress and anxiety, there are a couple of things you can take action on.
1. Discuss the situation with one or more persons (preferably at least two) completely removed from your work environment and ideally someone who is not emotionally connected to you. This allows a high-quality outside perspective (there is wisdom in a multitude of counsellors). In your discussions, you are primarily looking at discovering if you have a balanced and fair view of the situation. No problem can be addressed if we don’t have confidence that we are seeing the situation in a balanced and mature manner.
2. Assuming that your way of seeing the situation is endorsed by others as above, you may find it helpful to devise a plan to proactively address the situation with the person involved. In many cases, this involves some well-planned and emotionally controlled assertive behaviour interventions. Here is a great book that you may find helpful:
